Firstly you need to get yourself to Pohang. Pohang has two bus terminals, Shiwae and Geoseok. Once you arrive, you need to take a taxi to the Ferry Terminal. Ask the taxi driver to take you to the Ulleung Terminal. There should be no problem with that, but as a precaution, it is near Bukbu Beach. It’s about a 10 to 15 minute ride depending on which bus terminal you arrive at.
Once you arrive at the terminal purchase a ticket. These go for between 55,000 and 68,000 won per person one way. I recommend that you pay the business class price as it is more comfortable and there are windows on the upper deck. It’s also a lot less scary when the sea is rough. Motion sickness medicine can be purchased at the terminal tuck shop as well as on the ferry on the first floor. Remember to take your passport along, as the coast guard/police are required to log your trip to Ulleungdo. Don’t be surprised when you get pulled out of the line. Pack your iPod because the boat ride is 3 hours and 30 minutes when the sea is calm, but can stretch up to 4 hours and 30 minutes when the sea is rough.
Be aware that the more you pack the better your balancing act will have to be when you disembark on the other side.
